BOOK LAUNCH: Amazing Airborne A to Z

November 5, 2017 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

Former North Delta Secondary art teacher Dave Stevens and his collaborating wife Diane Reid Stevens are launching their second BC oriented alphabet book Amazing Airborne A to Z at the George Mackie Library. It follows Dave’s first book, Weirdly Wonderful A to Z published in 2016.

Immerse yourself in Dave and Diane Stevens’ amazing airborne world as they launch their second alphabet book Amazing Airborne A to Z at the George Mackie Library on Sunday, November 5 from 1 pm – 2:30 pm! The book was created with your children in mind, introducing them to some of British Columbia’s unusual flying creatures. As the illustrator, Dave imagined how a child might picture these creatures the first time they hear their names. For example, the kissing bug is shown with big lips and the queen bee wears a crown. At the bottom of each page is a realistic drawing of the creature along with its common name, its Latin name, and some brief information. Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing by the author and illustrator. All ages welcome.

About the Author and Illustrator
Illustrator Dave Stevens taught art in a local high school for 30 years and “graduated” in 2012. Author Diane Reid Stevens currently teaches English in a secondary school. The book is a result of Dave’s own background as an artist, Diane’s as an English teacher, and both as parents.
