Staff, students and parents at Delview Secondary held the 24th annual Thanks For Giving food drive last week.
Even though the weekend’s storm was pushing in, students braved the rain to collect non-perishable food items from homes and businesses all across North Delta.
Thanks for Giving is the largest single-night food drive in B.C., every year the school collects over 15,000 food items for the Surrey Food Bank and Deltassist, and since its inception in 1992 the event has collected over 300,000 non-perishable food items.
This year’s final tally rang in at 16,059 food items and $1700 in donations.
