Delview Students Tally Up Another Successful Food Drive

Category: DistrictSchool

On October 17, students at Delview Secondary collected an impressive 18,668 non-perishable food items for local food banks from homes and businesses across North Delta during their annual Thanks 4 Giving (T4G) food drive.

Thanks 4 Giving is one of the largest single-night food drives in B.C. This year’s event was the 32nd annual food drive organized by Delview students. The food items collected are donated to the Surrey Food Bank and Deltassist to help local families. Since its inception in 1992, the event has collected more than 475,000 non-perishable food items.

“Thanks to our Delview T4G Committee, staff, students and parents, both past and present for supporting our long-standing T4G tradition and thank you to our surrounding community and businesses for their continued generosity. Together we proved again, that Delview continues to be the small school with a big heart, well done Raiders!” said Deborah Hanson and Lindsay Bochen, Teachers and T4G Organizing Committee.

“Although this year’s food drive didn’t reach last year’s record setting tally, we know times are tough right now. As the original teacher behind the Thanks 4 Giving initiative, Ron McNeil, used to say, ‘Every can is a win and victory for the community, and the event that creates culture, belonging and community is a win for Delview!’” said Principal John Pavao.
