Happy Holidays from the Delta School District and Board of Education.

Category: DistrictSchool

Schools will be closed from December 21 until January 5, with classes resuming at all schools on Monday, January 6, 2020.

A Message from Doug Sheppard, Superintendent of Schools:

‘Tis the season of giving and, every year at this time, it warms my heart to see the many good deeds of our administrators, teachers, staff and students. Nearly all schools in the district participate in the Deltassist food drive helping to ensure that families and seniors in our communities celebrate the holidays with food on the table.

Many of you are supporting additional worthy causes by filling stockings for children in need, delivering warm clothes to the homeless, collecting toys for the BC Children’s Hospital and fundraising for schools and orphanages overseas. Giving back to our communities in this way exemplifies our vision of nurturing caring relationships, connections and a sense of belonging to our local and global communities. Thank you for all that you do to make our communities a better place.

To our educators, administrators, school and office staff, I would like to take this moment to extend my appreciation for your role in providing rewarding educational experiences in a safe and nurturing learning environment. Your hard work lays the foundation for us to reach our district’s mission “to enable all learners to succeed and contribute their full potential to the future.”

To our Board of Trustees, thank you for your leadership.  Your work supports partnership and collaboration in Delta, and I am looking forward to another successful and productive year ahead.

To our parents and guardians, thank you for supporting students on their learning journey, and helping them be fully prepared and empowered to contribute their best to society.

To our students, I am grateful for the way you show up to school each and every day.  Your kindness and respect for yourselves, your community and each other is both commendable and inspiring.

I wish you all a relaxing and joyful holiday with family and friends, and a very happy and healthy 2020.

Warm wishes,

Doug Sheppard
