Richardson Elementary Staff Take the Plunge for Mental Health

Category: District

Earlier this month, the dedicated staff at Richardson Elementary bravely embraced the chill for a great cause, participating in the Ice Bucket Challenge to raise funds for the Canadian Mental Health Association.

The initiative was sparked by a student’s question to teacher Colin Maishment: “Would you do the Ice Bucket Challenge?” Inspired by the moment, Mr. Maishment rallied 13 other courageous colleagues to join him in being drenched with icy water in front of the entire student body.

Together, these fearless and spirited staff members raised an impressive $1,425 to support local mental health programs.

“I’m thrilled we were able to raise money in such a fun and memorable way,” said Mr. Maishment. “Mental health is essential to everyone’s well-being, yet it’s often overlooked. This was a great way to bring attention to it.”

A huge thank you and congratulations to the following staff members for their enthusiasm and support: Mrs. Caplan, Ms. Coulson, Mme Dang, Ms. Denz, Ms. Furland, M. Logie, Mme McGuire, Mme McLean, Mr. Maishment, Mrs. Rodgers, Mme Royer, Ms. Sundaran, Mme Tayob, and Ms. Wone.
