Richardson Students Compete in 2017 Technovation BC Regional Pitch Event

Recently, Mrs. Gunwant Bagri and her Student Technovation Team at Richardson Elementary went to SFU to compete in the 2017 Technovation BC Regional Pitch Event.

Representing Richardson were Pirahnavi (grade 5), Dilpreet (grade 5), Vamakshi (grade 6 and Stephy (grade 7). The girls were awarded a second place for their app named ‘HELP’. Their app had been created to help new immigrants settling into their new country. HELP stands for:

H – Housing

E – Employment

L – Location and Transit

P – Purchase

In addition to their second place finish, the girls won the best poster award. The team has now entered the next level of the competition, and will be judged on their video. Well-done Richardson team!

The Technovation Challenge is an entrepreneurship challenge for girls aged 10 to 18. It challenges girls to build mobile apps that address community needs. The technovation challenge has engaged more than 10,000 girls from 78 countries.
