Staff at South Park Elementary recently had a tough time picking the winners of a Storybook Pumpkin decorating contest. Organized by Teacher-Librarian Jeanine Crombie, students were asked to design a pumpkin to resemble a character from their favourite book and to decorate them without carving them.
More than 100 students took part in the creative contest. Charlotte from Primary and London from Intermediate were crowned the winners for their Nemo and Smurf designs. They both received a $20 gift certificate to spend at the school’s Fall Book Fair and a lunchtime movie party in the library with five of their friends.
The decorated pumpkins provide an incredible display in the school’s library.
