Kindergarten

A child may be registered to attend Kindergarten in September if his or her fifth birthday occurs on or before December 31st of the current year.

Children whose fifth birthday falls on or before December 31, 2026 are eligible to enter Kindergarten in September 2026. The online application process for registration for the 2026-2027 school year will be held from February 9-20, 2026. Please register online or in-person for your catchment school.

Please note that the online registration has now closed.

Please visit your catchment school in-person to register. For verification of your catchment area school, please check the School Locator.

Please have the following documents ready to provide to the school (if registering in-person) or to upload with your child’s online application (all documents must be received for registration to be accepted):

  4. Proof of Residency (Property Taxes – current receipt, purchase/rental agreement or rental receipt).

Disclaimer: Please note that email is not a secure form of communication. The theft of sensitive information from intercepted emails is an increasing security risk. The Delta School District recommends that parents who choose to email personal and confidential documentation to the schools should use a secure method via an encrypted email to ensure that their privacy is protected.

Alternatively, please call your catchment school to make arrangements to drop off the documentation.

Incomplete information and documents will delay the registration process. Please ensure that all documents included with your child’s registration are legible.

Your catchment area school will process your child’s registration as soon as possible. Once your child has been accepted at their catchment area school, office staff will follow up with parents on additional documents that are needed, such as the Registration Form and Parent Declaration Form.

Registration form is available:  Student Registration Form – Catchment (Fillable)

Parent Declaration form is available here.

*Note: These forms are fillable.  Please print and sign the forms if you do not have a digital signature.

Parents should be aware that students may be required to attend a school outside of their usual attendance area if class enrolments exceed 20.

Non-Catchment Information Page

To secure a seat for the upcoming school year, students must first register at their Delta district catchment school via MyEd. Submitting a non‑catchment application form does not automatically register the student in the Delta School District.

If a parent wishes for their child to attend a school outside their catchment area, they must complete the online non‑catchment application form. Non‑catchment applications will be accepted online only beginning February 2, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. Applications submitted before March 6, 2026 will receive priority within their category.

Approvals will be processed as soon as possible; however, some decisions may not be finalized until the second week of September. For this reason, parents must register their child at their catchment school during the registration period of February 9–20, 2026, to ensure a placement.

Schools will hold all non‑catchment applications until they are reviewed and approved by the Assistant Superintendent. Approval decisions cannot be made at the school level.

Non-District Information Page

To secure a seat for the upcoming school year, students must first register at their home district catchment school. (For example, families living in Surrey must complete registration with the Surrey School District before submitting a non‑district application. Please check their district’s website for registration instructions). A non‑district application form does not register a student in the Delta School District.

Non-district students applying for Kindergarten in Delta must submit an online non-district application form. Applications will be accepted online only, beginning February 2, 2026 at 8:30 a.m. Applications received by March 6, 2026 will be given priority within their respective category.

Parents of non-district applicants should be aware that placement decisions for the Delta Kindergarten program may not be finalized until the second week of September. To ensure their child has a placement, families are advised to also register at their catchment area school in their home district.

The Assistant Superintendents’ Office will notify schools of successful non-district applicants. Once approval has been received, non-district students may proceed with registration at the designated school.

Important information about non-catchment and non-district applications

  • Please fill out one Non-Catchment or Non-District Application form only.
  • If you have a second and/or third choice, please make note of them on the same form and in order of preference.
  • The student must be registered at their catchment school to secure a seat for the upcoming school year. Submitting a non‑catchment/district application does not register a student in the Delta School District.
  • Due to space restrictions, Gray and Ladner Elementary Schools will only be accepting Non-Catchment and Non-District Applications for those students who have siblings already attending the school. Families that fall in this category, please contact Gray or Ladner for more information on how to apply.
