Abhay Sachal, a grade 10 Seaquam Secondary student, is one of 17 students from Canada that has been selected to win the Vimy Pilgrimage Award, which recognizes the actions of young people who demonstrate outstanding service, positive contributions, notable deeds, bravery or leadership. Their acts may have served their peers, schools, communities, province or country. This award consists of a fully funded, weeklong educational program in France and Belgium to study Canada’s World War effort.
Scheduled for April 7–16, 2017, the week will include classroom education and daily field trips to important First World War sites. On April 9, the students will be joined at Vimy by thousands of others from Canada and around the world to mark the 100th anniversary of the historic battle.
