Recent Regional Heritage Fair participant Sukhmandip Kang has been chosen to represent the Delta/Surrey Region in a Canada-wide Young Citizens video contest. Sukhmandip, a grade 7 student at Heath Elementary, received a Canada’s History Award for her project on the RCMP at this year’s Delta Regional Heritage Fair.
Young Citizens is a national video competition and a complementary component of Heritage Fairs across Canada. 200 students between the ages of 10 and 16, from all provinces and territories will participate in Young Citizens.
The 26 winners of the Young Citizens program will head to Ottawa from November 26-29. These students will travel to the Canada’s History Youth Forum and spend four days together exploring the capital region and learning more about our country’s past.
