Music Monday Salute to Frontline Workers

Category: DistrictSchool

On Monday May 4, Delta School District’s students and teachers joined hundreds of thousands of children, youth, teachers, parents and community members across Canada for Music Monday.

Seaquam Secondary usually hosts its final Night of Music to mark this event. Instead, due to the physical distancing requirements currently in place as a result of COVID-19, staff and students decided to celebrate Music Monday by combining it with the 7pm nightly salute to frontline workers, and invited others in the local community to join in.

“This was a wonderful opportunity for as many Delta students, families and local musicians as possible to play the Music Monday 2020 anthem, Hymn to Freedom, from their windows, porches, yards and driveways in support of our local healthcare heroes and other frontline workers,” said Jill Sparrow-Ng, Music teacher at Seaquam Secondary School.

Many thanks to Ewin Lai, film teacher, for creating this video.
